Happy Halloween! What a great cover on Scarlet Street #32 to kick off the season with! In doing so I'd like to dedicate this post to a dear friend of mine, actress/singer Geraldine Tan, an avid fan herself of Mr. Fredric March. Geraldine's devotion to the people and places and things she loves is un-matched. Another actor we both enjoy is Ramon Novarro, and you can see the fruits of her labor in honoring him on the fan Facebook page that Geraldine put together herself, attracting film historians also devoted to Ramon and even some of his family members! Had not someone beaten her to it, I'm certain she would have pulled off the same honorable feat for Fredric March.
Unfortunately, this issue of Scarlet Street doesn't devote so much to Mr. March as it does a couple of films he is famous for, "Death Takes A Holiday" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Both movies were made at Paramount, the latter figures prominently in writer Ken Hanke's article "The Paramount Horrors", and "Death" has its own remembrance by David Chierichetti. I managed to come up with a lot of decent extra photographs of Fredric March, however, and hope that helps! As always, the intent is simply to compliment the archival viewing experience of the original publication based off random internet searches I've made myself in order to find the best quality photos.
So, hats off to Halloween, and here's to a very wonderful Autumn for all! May Scarlet Street #32 help you remain in the spirit of the season!
